The history of Medieval India covers the period from the 8th to the 18th century. It was a time of political changes, social development, and cultural growth.

In the early phase, regional kingdoms like the Rajputs and the Chola dynasty ruled different parts of India. In 1206, the Delhi Sultanate was established, introducing centralized administration and new military systems. Later, the Mughal Empire unified most of India and strengthened governance under rulers like Akbar.

Society was mainly based on the caste system, and agriculture was the main occupation. Trade, crafts, and urban centers developed during this period. The Bhakti and Sufi movements promoted religious harmony.

Medieval India also witnessed great achievements in art, architecture, literature, and music, which laid the foundation for modern Indian culture.
